Stepbook

Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 21, 2026
Stepbook collects nothing. It has no server, no account system, and no analytics. Everything you record stays on your device.

Stepbook is a browser extension that records your own actions on web pages you choose, and turns them into step-by-step guides with screenshots that you edit and export locally.

What we collect

Permissions, explained

Stepbook asks for access to websites solely so its recorder can observe your clicks and typing on pages you choose to record, and take screenshots of that tab during an active recording session. It does nothing on any page unless you have started a recording. Storage permissions exist because screenshots are large and are kept locally on your device.

Data deletion

Your data is yours. Deleting steps in the editor, or uninstalling the extension, permanently removes all stored data from your device. There is nothing to delete anywhere else, because nothing ever leaves your browser.

Changes to this policy

If Stepbook's data practices ever change, this page will be updated and the effective date revised before any change takes effect.
